I rarely use Console View, preferring Track View like yourself. Additionally, although I've tried to warm up to the Pro Channel, I've never been able to. I dislike the small GUIs and the inability to move the modules around the screen independently. Call me old fashioned, but I still much prefer VSTs in the FX bin... er, rack.
Even if you never use the effect modules in the ProChannel, I think it's still worth using it purely for the FX Chains. You can see far more of the chain than you can in the FX Bins which are incredibly small and cramped. If you insert multiple FX Chain modules you can see 20+ effects all as one long chain, if you need to. And of course since you're loading your own VST's into the FX Chains there is no problem with small GUI's.
Personally I use the track view and the console view together, each has its own purpose. For instance when I'm arranging in the track view, I use the mute and solo buttons there because they're physically connected to the tracks I'm working with in that view. However if I want to balance a lot of instruments against each other, making constant tweaks to a group, nothing beats the console view. It's also essential if for example you want to drag effects from one track's ProChannel to another.
