MAX25 is not bound to any particular DAW. Akai mention other DAWs in documentation and has factory presets for them, with instructions how to setup and what to expect. Unfortunately not for Sonar. But that is not a "show stopper" since the device is configurable and has clear communication protocol specification. Sonar has Cakewalk "ACT MIDI" and "Generic Surface" to work with such devices. And there is my plug-in to make the integration as deep as possible. But someone has to complete the job which was not done by Akai.

if the documentation were clear, it wouldn't need an additional plug in, I think I'll go back to the Tascam, but thanks anyway

I have added AZ control, when I add a second rotor, it does the same as the first, using sliders, the first rotar controls 1st track volume, so does the second, great bit of kit tho, thanks

With AZ Ctrl the procedure is a bit different... Configure your controls in whatever mode you like, write down what you see in the "Last MIDI event" when you move/turn/push particular control and send it to me with wishes what it should do for you. I create the preset for you (that is a matter of minutes for me), which we can improve than.

Otherwise follow "ACT MIDI explained" tutorial on my site. You theoretically can program "ACT MIDI" without reading the whole documentation, but that is not going to work with AZ Controller.

Ive kind sorted the sliders, however, when I program the second bank of sliders, why does it connect to the pan controls of the 1st 4 tracks open, how do I connect to the master faders for example.
I can get the record button to work, but cant get midi signals from play or stop, whats the key there? great help tho, thanks

That sounds like for "ACT MIDI" plug-in...
Banks there are for the same controls. Get good wine and cheese (as suggested in the pre-words) and read "ACT MIDI explained".

Other here can start to blame you for impatience, but I understand you well. After unsuccessful attempts to assign my MPK mini in ACT MIDI controller, without reading Sonar Reference Guide chapter 40, I was ready to throw away Sonar, break MPK mini, forget about computer music and continue playing piano. I have written AZ Controller instead and then I have written "ACT MIDI explained", for those like me at the beginning. Please do not make the same mistake as I did
