I've never had this problem BUT I just checked it out and can confirm it is WAY to easy to trigger the Windows style doubleclick filename edit option.
To the OP... as bad as this is it takes a keyboard stroke to wipe out the filename so I gotta ask what action are you taking with the keyboard while clicking around files in the Browser that is making the names get deleted? AFAIK there isn't much need to be futzing with key commands from the Media Browser (however I personally have a bad habit of hitting the Spacebar when previewing files because I am so used to engaging playback in Sonar that way... which of course causes some real dumb crap by playing the project instead of the Browser file I intended to play).
So when Browsing files, for now, just avoid even LOOKING at your keyboard unless absolutely necessary while Browsing files unless you have visually confirmed the filename edit box hasn't been enable.
The fix Cakewalk should DEFINITELY implement to fix this is to completely disable the doubleclick filename editing if possible (perhaps it is linked into how Windows does things but it seems even more trigger happy than even the Win version is).
Force it so users have to right click to rename files and folders in the Browser. Most people are in there to preview and drag stuff around... all very click intensive and right clicking is an already established, obvious and easy way to rename files (in fact that's how I rename files in the Browser anyway and have always found the double click rename thing in Windows ultra stupid, unnecessary and annoying anyway).
Engaging this really does seem far more sensitive than in Windows file systems as well. Not sure what that's about but I certainly see the MASSIVE problems this poses considering renaming a file in the Browser gets right into the actual filesystem.
Also there are some very strange voodoo magic dances I've had to undertake to rename folders and files in the Browser that I think are kind of weird and silly. Like you have to go into the Browser Views, show folders and then bounce back and forth to name, sort and move things instead of being able to do it all in one view or the other.
So maybe a quick look at the Media Browser and how it works in general would be a good idea. Ya'll been doing pretty good at fixing things up more logically so maybe this is a quick fix that'll make people happy.
Cheers.
