Hey, my feature request got the Beeps seal of approval.

I'm totally feeling the love.

lulz... real problems generally do. This does indeed seem to be a potentially nasty one. I sure wouldn't want to accidentally change my filenames. I get confused enough as it is.

Me too. I was looking into his problem and found the same solution he did. I guess I sort of knew that, but never got around to actually using that feature.

Sure beats having to drag MIDI files onto the timeline to audition them.

An icon toggle at the top for read only would be good..yup

The Synth Preview Output pictured above by Papacucku apparently sends MIDI data only to softsynths.

Is there a way to do the same thing with a hardware synth? Currently if I want to audition several MIDI files, I drag them one at a time to the timeline and press play to hear what they sound like through my hardware synth. It would be much easier and faster to be able to do this directly from the media browser...iow just click on a MIDI file and hear it sounding through the hardware synth.

Here's one way to deal with the accidental name change issue...

1. Find the folder containing the samples where you don't want to change the names.
2. Right-click on the folder and choose Properties.
3. Under Security, change Permissions by clicking Edit.
4. For "Write," choose Deny. Click Apply, then OK.

This sounds like it will work, but I have a TON of such folders.

I do keep them all as subfolders in one main folder, but if I change the main folder to read only, I won't be able to add anything more to it without going through this procedure in reverse, no?

Still, it might be preferable to accidentally renaming files, or changing permissions on each individual folder.

Correct. However, after I develop a loop library that it's a folder, I don't change it - I treat it like a CD-ROM. Of course, any changes to the file made within a project are saved with the project.

Your suggestion does work, and it was easy and quick to make the change.

So until the bakers decide to offer a read only option in the media browser, this is far preferable to the constant hassle of accidentally changing file names.

Thank you.
