Hi Fuzz, Thanks for the info still cant get it to work. I've got the control panel set to wdm audio already, tried turning it on and off etc, still no work. Can you let me know what drivers you have loaded in device manager, do you have more than me? Was this with the march update drivers or the earlier january ones?

Thanks dave.

Gledhillda,

I am using the most recent March Drivers. Not sure what drivers you are concerned about in DM. Let me know and I will check and post, maybe send a pic of certain settings ect. if you like.

Don't give up. This interface (so far) is stable w/ Sonar (ASIO Mode) and getting clean/good recording. I am very pleased with it, but it hasn't earned a permenant place in my home until I've used it for SERIOUS Multi-track recording. Should be this upcoming weekend. Fingers Crossed.

Hi Digital fuzz, ta for the encouragement. The drivers I was on about are shown from device manager if you right click on the multimix device and hit properties, then hit the driver tabs, then the driver details button. Mine say it has just diceasio.dll and dice1394.sys. Ide be interested to hear if your one has any extra files?
Ta Dave

The diceasio.dll and the dice1394.sys are the only ones showing on my desktop.

I've been using the 16 chanel Multimix on a Dell Inspiron 6000 without any issues until I installed the first set of driver/firmware updates. I reinstalled the CD drivers and all was well again. Recorded my 5 pc band off the floor into HS4 beautifully.

I did run into some issues getting it setup on my desktop - audio crackling - and was losing my mind until I read "jimarter"'s post about setting the DMA buffer sizes - and that solved that problem. Thanks jimarter!!

digitalfuzz: I did run into the problem where the menu would not display the list of inputs when highlighted. For me that was because the setting in Options --> Audio --> Advanced--> Driver Mode was set to WDM/KS when I had the mixer set to use ASIO.

I do find that I need to power off the Multimix before shutting down the PC and don't power back on until the computer has fully booted. I go into the Multimix control panel before launching Sonar HS just to make sure it is working.

Luckily I haven't had to call Alesis because this forum has answered all my questions.

I am having a very similar problem with the firewire 16 aswell, I am ready to throw the thing out the window! I am running XP Home, have updated it and followed the instuctions as in this post but still no go. My computer installs the ins outs and main out and in etc etc but not the comes up with multimedia audio controller when I plug it in and can't find a driver for it which is really weird, when I try to play a winamp file to test it the computer locks up, tested the pci card with the usb thats also on it and that works fine, any ideas before I get rid of this stupid machine??

What PCI card are you talking about Scott?
Have you tried using Windows Media Player instead?

I've got a combo pci card with USB and firewire ports on it and when I plug the alesis multimix firewire 16 into in I can get all the multimix inputs and outputs to install but not the general audio controller driver for the multimix so the in other words it comes up with "device may not work properly" or something and the it won't let me install the main driver for the multimix as if it doesn't know what the device is, BUT after I bypass it it installs the other drivers like main in, main out etc etc and when I go to the multiix control panel it says the driver has not been installed, in the windows audio setup the ins ut outs show up but it won't let me change any of the settings.
Weird.

Ok, you do not have a firewire port on the motherboard itself. What brand of pci card is this and what chipset does it use. TI is the only chipset that I have seen reccomended by people here.
Do you have to load drivers for the card, or does the driver come with XP?

It says its a via6212 and is IEEE 1394, P1394a(rev1.1) and OHCI (rev1.0) if that makes any sense, and the driver disk came with it which I installed.
Cheers
