Hi UnkleMartinD28,

Thanks for the info on the Alesis Multimix firewire with Sonar.

It worked for a while, now it keeps shutting my system down.

Could you email to me the old drivers.

I have a Multimix 16 Firewire.

Thanks

Any experience with the multimix and Adobe audition 1.5? I am having the same stupid thing every time-can't make anything recognize anything but ALESIS FIREWIRE IN and ALESIS FIREWIRE OUT. Alesis control panel is installed, but even under inputs on that I can choose DIRECT, MONO, QUAD, 5.1, 7.1 etc, but nothing else shows up for inputs in DAW other than ALESIS FIREWIRE IN. Any suggestions? It works fine with single inputs, but that kind of voids the purpose of the firewire mixer as I bought it for live recording practice sessions with a band.

Im very interested on that multitrack recorder... i've read lots of forum and opinions...everyone has managed to get them to work proprely..

can someone please send me a record from the alexis multimix 16 channels with more than 1 channel recorded...(either separated tracks or everything together, just recorded at the same time)

send to nightgost@gmail.com the track/s or the links to listen.

Thank you

From what I understand about the way the MM works, your going to have to choose your external drive as the save drive from your software. Your not going to be able to write directly to the drive via the fw port on the MM. when you originally lay down a track, it is a temp file until you save it to a directory/file/folder on your pc. If your pc can handle 2 fw ports , one for the MM, the other for the external drive your speed is matched. If your writing to your external drive through a usb, keep in mind the slower transfer rate. I use a dedicated partition on my pc for recording and backup all files and also save the track to an external drive afterwards. you can delete space off your pc, or just move them to another drive to free up space.

Hey, just got the post, ill zip up files and send. There is a new problem with the MM itself that alesis hasn't worked around. I'll have to find a new workaround before i send. Are you getting any error messages or lockups of you software when the MM quits working?

There has been a recent rash of MM crashes in december, mine included on dec 6th. I have managed to get it to work on a daily basis with reinstalls, but something is up with their software corrupting, or the firmware corrupting- and inputs are disappearing. I'll repost info in next few days on the workaround. Best I can tell you at the moment is go to an old driver from 2005-06 and use the reinstall method above.

Also, if anyone who has been through the recent crash, any info on what exactly happened, error codes? audio loss/lockup, software stall/lockup? It would greatly help me pinpoint the problem ad find the best driver workaround :) peace

Funny, i just checked alesis, and lo and behold, the nov driver update has mysteriously disappeared and july is back up. Im going to post a link for the driver package that I find works for more than 24 hours on here.

Dude check out Phonic's stuff they have a firewire interface similar to the alesis. I have a post on here trying to get opinions
on it but no one is biting. I am definitly interested in the mixer interface combination myself and im waiting for some reviews
on the phonic and alesis gear. The phonic stuff is a bit cheaper and it can run a higher bit rate (96 kHz) than the alesis multimix so its worth
checking out.
