  • Sonar X2 CA-2A T Type Leveling Amplifier GUI problem [Solved by X2a Update]

I've taken to using the CA-2A leveling amplifier a lot lately.  Periodically, for no apparent reason, the graphic for this unit in the Pro Channel disappears and is replaced by a solid gray box.  I have to close the project and re-open to restore the GUI.  When this happens it affects all of the instances of the CA-2A in the project.

Anyone else seen this??

This looks similar to my problem with R-Mix Sonar http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?high=&m=2788029&mpage=1

Does it happen when projects get larger about 4 Gb?.

Have reported this to Cakewalk support?.

both you two would benefit from posting a pic for us to check out.
also keep a mental note of when its happening.
does it happen after you re=open the prochannel.
is it after switching a scren set...
stuff like that.
you can compare recipes and nail this down.

id also like to know your systems specs and if you are both using onboard graphics, exc.

I'm seeing two things happen with it ...

1. Randomly all the graphics will be reversed. The R37 knob will be on the left, and the Limit/Compress Switch will be on the right, and the Gain knob will be on the left, and the Peak Reduction knob will be on the right. As soon as you click anywhere on it, they switch and go in to the correct position.

2. It will randomly not work when inserted in to the Pro Channel. The Gain side will raise and lower the volume, but the Peak Reduction side has no effect, nor does the R37 control. To correct this I'll have to 'replace' it with a different Module, and 'replace' that Module with the PC2A. Sometimes I'll have to do that 5 or 6 times before it will start working.

EDIT: My apologies, I just realized you were talking about the stand alone plug-in. I'm talking about the Pro Channel Module version.

I've used R-Mix in 1 large project and did not see the anomaly you talked about aries. But it drives me crazy that the faders zero out at the top rather than the center.

Your first post indicates you are using X2. Is this X2 or X2a? I thought the weird graphics thing with the limiter plugin was solved in the X2a update. I could be mistaken...

Whoa, thanks.  Yes indeed I was still using Build 306.  I vaguely remember wanting to wait on the upgrade to X2a because I wasn't having any problems with my setup, at the time, and was in the middle of a mixing project.

So, just installed the X2a patch - I assume that will fix the problem.

Thanks for jogging my memory on this one.

Yup. I have.

By the way, does your CA-2A knobs turn in response to automation evnvlope curves assigned to them?

Several hours after X2a update and I haven't seen this problem again, so deeming it solved.

Thanks again mmarton, for suggesting I check version number.

Bitman - don't know answer to your question - I can't remember assigning an automation envelope to this module, sorry.
