Hello forum...I was watching a tutorial video and the video was using presonus studio1 and in the video, the guy uses automation to increase the volume in a small measure in a track. I could increase the volume in sonar x1 by using a volume clip, but in this case, it's for the drums which is 8 tracks that I would have to draw volume clips which would take a bit of time, not to mention having to bring up manually those clips if I ever decided to raise or lower the volume later on. The presonus studio one has a feature where the user chopped a measure in the tracks and brought the volume up by pulling a little notch and he can bring the volume up and down with ease and not be limited by clips which have to be brought up manually. So....Is there a way to automate the volume accross a small measure in a track without using clips? Thanks in advance!!! 

I'm not sure exactly what u mean by volume clips. On the track u can just click the automation tab and draw put your automation. U can later highlight and hold ctrl to select just the nodes u want to increase or decrease. If u wanted to automate all your drums the same rather than each track individually you I could route the drums to an aux track or a stereo bus and automate the volume on that instead. Sorry if I didn't hit what you were asking.

Thanks for the response woodyoflop, but that's exactly what I'm talking about, if you click on the nodes, it can get a bit involved depending on the number of tracks one is trying to affect at a time. Which slows down the mixing process. But at any rate, it seems like there's no work around for this. Thanks again!!!

How about routing the drums to a drums bus? That way you can control the overall volume.

Not sitting at my computer to confirm, but couldn't you accomplish this with a clip group?

It's standard practice to route your drum tracks to a drum buss, and then control the volume with the buss fader, as well as applying overall drum EQ, compression, etc. to the one buss.

Also concider upgrading to the latest version of Sonar Premium! The new AUX track routing is incredible!

I'm not at my computer right now, but are you trying to produce identical fades across multiple tracks? See if you can do copy and paste special just to paste the volume info. (not sure if that's possible, but maybe it will lead you up the right path)
 

Thanks for all the responses, I saw the video again, and he uses gain to affect the measure in the track, so that's what I  did and it worked to perfection, I just had to split the measure on both sides so it could go up in volume independently from the rest of the track. I do have the drums routed to a drum bus, not sure about the clip group, gotta educate my self more on it, but as I said, gain and a boost was exactly what I was looking for. Thanks guys!!!
