I just got the new Plugin-Alliance (P.A./Brainworx) bx_console plugin. This thing is AMAZING. I have almost all the console plugs by UAD and waves and this is just the smoothest best sounding one overall with some very cool new technology! (go here read up and download the trial:
https://plugin-alliance.com/)
ISSUE: The bx_console is supposed to generate a mono instance for mono channels and stereo instance for stereo channels. That said, I reported an issue to P.A. that in SONAR, the bx_console only renders stereo version regardless of the track being mono. Fortunately the plugin still works but its just not how it should be. Here is the reply from Jeremy from The Plugin Alliance Support Team. According to him, this is only a Sonar bug (figures...)
Any insight from either Cakewalk or users? Thanks!

Hi Allen Lind,
Just wanted to let you know that I did verify this bug on my end, so I will report it to the dev team and hopefully we'll have a fix for it in a future version.
I still think you should try contacting Cakewalk as well, as they might be able to provide some insight into why this only seems to happen in Sonar.
Cheers,
Jeremy

Hi Allen,
Thanks for the info. I'll investigate this issue on my end, and if we do find a bug, it will be fixed in a future version. I'll let you know if we make any progress. In the meantime, I'd recommend you also contact Cakewalk about this to see if they have any suggestions.
Also, keep in mind that if you switch the analog mode to "Digital," the left and right will be processed exactly the same, which means that it will be effectively the same as mono (assuming the input is mono). The only difference is that there might be an increase in cpu usage.

In Sonar, a mono track is pretty much sdefined by the input type and also by symbol which is either a small circle (Mono) with down arrow or two overlapping circles (Stereo). A Sonar channel can be switched from Mono to Stereo by clicking that symbol but you can get wierd results if you mix stereo and mono sources or plugins. That said, the console plug seems to work OK other than the fact that its always a stereo channel and should not be. Maybe the boys a Cakewalk/Sonar can help determine what really signals a stereo track from a software point of view. Sonar is now an amazing DAW btw... I've used many of them, and Sonar deserves to be up there or even surpass some of the more popular ones. Its time is coming. :) Thanks for your help and hope we can find a solution. Let me know if I can help. There is a forum http://forum.cakewalk.com/ that you might get answers but I would also think that as a major plugin developer your should get access to the info you need somehow directly from them,
Allen
