  • Maschine 2 software plugin crashes Sonar X3

Recently about 2 months ago I was having trouble with projects starting to crash that became more regular to the point that up to about 3 weeks ago everything I was opening crashed.

To cut a long story short I narrowed it down to Maschine 2, which was confirmed by Cakewalk support with the crash dump files I sent them, causing the problem (every project I start is from a single template and has it inserted by default).

So now with a new template (minus Maschine 2) everything is OK. I try and insert Maschine 2 every now and then to see if it is fixed but no joy as it crashes immediately.

I can not come to a solution as to why this started to happen when it use to run perfectly and as I really want to start using Maschine within Sonar again I am here to find out if anyone has seen this problem before. Cakewalk support are trying to help and I am pleased with their efforts up to now, but we are no where nearer to finding the problem.

Any advise or help would be appreciated.

btw Maschine 2 in stand alone mode works perfectly.
Plugin mode has been tried as just 64 bit only, 32 bit only and both in the relevant folders at the same time.

This is a known problem and I myself have been dealing with this lately. This is not a sonar problem but it is a NI Maschine 2.3 problem. I am hoping for a solution soon.

Thank you. I myself was convinced it was a NI problem. Their install procedures I find to very problematic.

EVERYONE:
I was having this issue a few weeks ago after I upgraded to Win 10. While letting Maschine loop, it would go a couple cycles, then eventually stop. Then Sonar would crash soon thereafter.

TRY THIS: unplug your Maschine hardware--- the padded controller-- and see if this helps.
On my system, it made it run perfectly. Then I changed the USB ports the hardware was plugged into, uninstalled/reinstalled, and everything works.

Again, I am running 2.3 with/without Sonar without any issues on Windows 10.

Also try updating your Maschine firmware and driver. Make sure Maschine cable is unplugged when you update the drivers.

You may also consider updating your motherboard chipset drivers and BIOS.

Well I rolled back to 2.2.4 and all is working again (just can not open the newer projects).

I have been in contact with NI support and after a system scan on Monday they acknowledged a found fault and said they would give to their engineers.

Got an email from them earlier today saying they had just released 2.3.1 and to try this.

I did but the VST d.ll's are missing from the install and not showing in the Cakewalk VST folders (or anywhere else) LOL

I have just sent them an email and wait again.

Thanks for all the input and suggestions which I have tried but still no solution.

Try this:
https://www.cakewalk.com/Support/Knowledge-Base/2007013361/SONAR-X3e-Update

If VST's are still missing download the patch manually, run it and put in the correct file paths. And check file paths in Sonar.

Would just like to report that since testing 2.3.1 Maschine update from Friday everything is now working perfectly for me. No more crashing and seems to be better  performance wise than it has been. NI support have really come good this time.

Thank you.
