Sometimes when I'm tired, I export a track and post it and go to shutdown without saving or closing Sonar. Windows enables me to cancel and go back and save my project and close Sonar. Idk how Sonar does this, but I love it!!

Sonar doesn't. Windows does it for any programs still running when you shut down.

I figured that Sonar subscribed to the shutdown notification from Windows and answered back that data wasn't saved. I've done this with Windows Services before where you can handle the shutdown event in the service to clean up threads etc.

I suppose any reputable program would do that. It doesn't even need to be a not-saved message. As long as an app is open Windows will see it and tell you to close it or cancel before it shuts down.
