The article itself is questionable AFAIC.
 
Why are knobs shaped that way?  Really?  How 'bout so we can easily see which way they're pointed?  And not a single example of alternatives.

 It reminds me that most of the lures in Bass Pro Shops are designed to catch anglers since fish don't have money.
 
 That goes for pet toys as well.  I bought this one toy called Birdy Basketball and 5 years later he's still afraid of it.
 
 A GUI can do a lot for sales.  I like the look of Reason and dig that 8 bit look in Live. I would have stopped using Sonar if it weren't for the X series.  From Sonar 4 to 8.5 I think they tried to put everything on the GUI.

 You can have more knobs if you go to a Pro Tools forum and tell them you use Sonar.
