I know Sonar Professional comes bundled with Addictive Drums (VST).  But I also run Pro Tools 12 which uses AAX format plugins.
 
Anyone know if when you purchase Sonar Professional - the bundled Addictive Drums comes in both VST and AAX format?

Check the XLN site.
 
You get a serial number for AD2. You install from AD2s installer. 
 
There is no SONAR restriction on what AD2 can do. IOW you can run it in any DAW it is capable of.
 
If XLN says it's also AAX then you're golden.

Another question - is Addictive Drums General MIDI compatible?
 
If I import a General MIDI sequence from Band in a Box that has a GM drum track, can I just assign AD to that MIDI track in SONAR, and will AD play the corresponding GM patch sounds correctly?

Yes, under the "?" in the upper right of AD2 is the option to set it to GM mapping. It defaults to AD2 mapping which allows for more MIDI triggers on the kit.

And yes Addictive drums is AAX compatible. That is Pro Tools 10 and newer.
