I am considering buying Sonar artist but was wondering if i can install on more than 1 device.
I have a windows laptop and in my home studio a mac.
If i buy the soft, can i install it on both a laptop and a desktop if they are both mine or do I need to pay twice?
Between windows and mac, can i use the same purchase or again having to pay twice?

Yes, you can install Sonar on two of your own devices as long as you only use one at a time. Please keep in mind that officially, Sonar is Windows only.

Yup - as indicated above - the Cakewalk license agreement allows you to install on more than one computer, though only 1 can be used at a time.
 
I have two computers with Sonar loaded on both myself - I use 1 for my studio setup and 1 for mobile recording.
 
I would add something for you - there is something called DPC Latency that is the enemy of the kind of processing that music production programs like Sonar use, which is 'Streaming Audio'.  The wireless adapters/drivers on laptops are NOTORIOUS for really spiking the DPC Latency, and this will most likely make it so you won't be able to record properly, if nothing were done to resolve it.
 
The IS an easy fix for the above.  Right before you launch a Sonar session on the computer with a WiFi adapter, simply temporarily turn off the wireless transmitter (usually a little switch or a function button/key to turn it off or on.  If not, then simply go into Windows Device Manager and disable the WiFi there).  THEN, launch Sonar and you shouldn't have those DPC latency spikes from your WiFi anymore.  When you finish with Sonar and close it, simply turn your WiFi back on or enable it again in Device Manager and you are back in business on the internet too.
