Wasn't that song originally made for a western movie soundtrack, Pat Garret & Billy The Kid? That could be the reason the solutions were different from Dylans usual ones.
Also, isn't it possible the new movie soundtrack has gone through some processing that doesn't exist in the original one.

Yes, it was made for a movie and that could have influenced the choices.  The vocal is clearly processed differently than other Dylan records.

It wasn't normal for Dylan to use a lot of reverb. Most of his vocals were dry and close-miked, but heavily compressed once he went electric. I think that atypical effect was intentional in that song, to convey someone floating away on the verge of death.

Although now that I think about it, "Lay Lady Lay" was pretty reverberant, too. Maybe that was some producer's idea to give Dylan a more pop-sound.

I remember it and it is a really beautiful song. But then it is Bob Dylan.

Interesting.  When Dylan and I meet Ringo for dinner at Sir Paul's house Saturday, I'll ask if he remembers.

Tom, Ringo said what about that $500 you owe him for getting you out of jail in LA.

Going for a guess on the plate reverb in 1973.  EMT 140 was the gold standard.
