Starting SONAR Platinum after a fresh boot hangs at the splash page indefinitely. Ending SONARPLT.EXE process from the Task Manager only removes the splash page from the screen the process continues to run. So far, a system restart will allow Platinum to start. This started happening after one of the older updates but I can't remember which one or what else may have changed on my system around that time - makes it hard to go back. 
 
Anybody heard of a cure?

What version of Sonar Platinum (on spalsh page).
This is without loading a project?
If it is loading a project try Sonar safe mode.
 
Not sure what you are referencing .. 'Older update?' For what?

There's no version on the splash page (screen shot below). This happens on JP update and several older Platinum updates. Haven't gotten to the project selection screen yet so it's not loading a project.

I don't know what happened to my picture but it's just a black box that says SONAR Platinum

Reinstalled Microsoft Security Essentials and renamed %appdata%/Cakewalk/Platinum to Platinum backup. Now Platinum starts but bogusly complained about not enough storage to install my MIDI output device - APAI MPK49.
