Here's where I think Cakewalk has dropped the ball.  They
come out with this very kewl, very intuitive, new thing called
the ProChannel.  Then develop virtually nothing for it.  They gave
us the CA-2A, and few others, and some third party "bonuses",
but, for the most part, have completely missed a "money machine"
in developing PC Modules, that I'm sure the vast majority of users
would rather invest their money in than third party vst's...

JMO...YMMV

Cakewalk Sonar is a hot property.  I have no doubt if Gibson faces it's worst case scenario and closes up shop, they'll be at least a half a dozen companies looking to take over Cakewalk's flagship product.

Although I have been known to be wrong.....from time to time.

OK, have Cakewalk bail them out.

Most likely they will get refinanced.

I think they were hoping for more third party support. Hard to say. It could also be that they felt was available covers the bases sufficiently and that anything else was redundant or not worth it since you can already add effects to pro channel chsin.

Most of us have watched ownership change hands multiple times. Cakewalk tends to bounce back

Yep.

As far as the Pro Channel goes, the argument for CW relying on third party support to make it worthwhile was made back when it came out and IIRC CW said that they were not depending on third parties to make it work. That they would support it.

And they have. Maybe not as much as some would think they should have, but I think PC has done what CW wanted: An easy way (with low CPU usage) to view and use popular/BnB FX in a trk.

Many companies have strict EBITDA requirements on acquisition, so there is a large difference between who could and who would catch Cakewalk should that event occur.

If Avid buy it, maybe we'll be able to use Protools stuff.....but seriously. Avid are like Apple in my eyes a bunch of chancers.
