  • SOLVED - Plugin Manager - saving layouts from 1 update to another - Jamaica Plains

Hello all,

About a month ago or so, I recall reading about a program someone here developed that would allow one to save plugin layouts and restore those saved layouts from one update to another.  I've search the forum but I cannot locate that thread - perhaps my keyword searches are wrong.  If anyone can point me to that thread, I would appreciate it.

Which leads me to this question - the the new updates with Jamaica Plains and not needing to re-scan plugins and overwriting your custom plugin layouts,  would the program I mention above be needed any longer ?

Thanks and Best Regards to All !

I'm not sure if you're referring to my thread, because I didn't make a downloadable tool or anything like that, but I made a small online web page which can merge plugin layouts - this lets you take a custom layout from a previous version of Sonar, and the factory-installed layout from your latest version of Sonar, and export a new layout that contains both.

However, I wrote this a year ago, for X3, and although I think I tested it with the first release of Platinum, I've not tested it since then. So it may not work, or might create broken files, I don't know.

It also makes no attempt to group things 'sensibly' - you just get the 2 layouts added together, and then you'd have to move things around according to taste.

I don't know how the changes in Jamaica Plains relate to this - it seems like there haven't been any new VSTs shipped with Sonar for quite a while, so I've not needed to think about whether I am 'missing' any new functionality from my custom menus.

My custom layouts have been "surviving" update to update.  I give them unique names rather than modifying the ones that are installed by default.

Thank you for your responses.  It was KPrerry's  Utility (KupCake) I was looking for.
