I got a new Peavey mixer that has a bluetooth channel. My laptop has bluetooth, and the two connected fine. I'm now trying to port stereo out of Sonar X3 to it through the laptop (which is telling me that its speaker drivers are porting via bluetooth), and I'm using ASIO 4all ... which is also reading the bluetooth fine.

I've gone back between WDM, ASIO, MME et. al. in Sonar and I can't seem to get it to send via bluetooth. Nothing works. ASIO locks up in seizure mode. WDM doesn't find the bluetooth at all ... and MME doesn't find any bluetooth drivers. WASAPI is the ONLY driver choice where a connection, however awful and sratchy, was made.
 
Anyone have any thoughts or instructions how to make such work?

If you managed to get it working through WASAPI then it probably needs to use Windows somehow. I would look more into what the mixer documentation says on this then work your way back to Sonar.
 
However... this may be one of those situations where you'll want some kind of intermediary type program to take the signal from Sonar, manage it in Windows then route it out to the mixer.
 
A program called Voicemeeter might allow the proper connection and let you use Sonar in ASIO mode (allowing for high quality audio but still being able to output to a more Windows friendly audio format).
 
IDK though and honestly sending audio like this wirelessly seems like it would be problematic even in the best of scenarios.
 
Seriously dig into the mixer manual to see what it recommends. I could not see a unit like that not detailing what type of drivers and routing to use.

Assuming you get it working, let us know whether the latency is acceptable or not. I haven't had much luck in terms of keeping latency low. I suspect the mixer's Bluetooth channel is more for pumping in audio from an iPhone or something equivalent.

The mixer manual basically says, "Connect it to your computer and it will work."
 
I'll see if I can play regular stuff through Windows and see if it happens.
I'm also making sure that I've the latest ASIO4all ... which DOES see the Bluetooth audio drivers, but Sonar's audio engine drops out sending it that way ... and ASIO4all does an exclamation point on it.

Theoretically, I should be able to stream right to the Realtek drivers and have the Bluetooth send to the mixer. On the computer itself, the sound icon indicates that it's 'speaker' is set to bluetooth and it knows that the Peavey mixer is connected.

Maybe it is only 48K or 96K? try setting the sample rate to 48K.

Hi. Have you tried the original ASIO drivers instead of ASIO4ALL? It can cause issues with interfaces with proper ASIO drivers. If the latest ASIO drivers for your Layla works, uninstall ASIO4ALL, and reboot. You could even uninstall ASIO4ALL, reboot and then install your ASIO drivers.

I don't think the specs in his sig are for the computer he's using (which is why he's using the Realtek card and ASIO4all). Having a USB interface using ASIO drivers connected to the laptop would likely help though.
 
Thing is if OP had the current version of the Win10 optimized Sonar (and of course Win10 on the laptop) he may be able to get better results in the other driver modes without using ASIO4all at all. He's using X3 though so none of those improvements are available to him.

Correct. My studio rig (that has the Layla) is running Platinum w/ Win10. My laptop has got X3 ... for I didn't know if it was okay to have Platinum on a laptop and a desktop simultaneously ... so I loaded up the older version.

The sig has my studio specs on it ... the laptop is a Samsung ATIV Book 9 ... and it's probably got more firepower than my studio rig. It also is running Windows 10 Pro ... as I participated in the beta program with it (it was quite the bumpy ride)

The mixer signal likes to see 44/16 ... according to the driver read upon loading. I wonder if that's the actual issue, as it's likely the sample rate in Sonar is 44 (my preferred rate so I don't have to convert everything), but the bit depth is greater than 16?

I got it working fine via Windows' MP3 player ... but Sonar continued to give me a hassle. At best I can get it to crackle.

I'll continue to fool with it and see if I can get it to pop. I'm not certain I'd use it regularly anyways, as this is a live performance rig, and the connection between the mixer and laptop was "rocky" at best. Fortunately, the channel allows for two types of USB connection and the Bluetooth ... so I flipped it over to USB and it's as stable as can be.

I like when things work as intended though, so I'll keep at it until I've got the problem isolated.

Don't worry about installing SPlat on a second machine. That is totally allowed. The improved audio stuff in Sonar + Win10 might allow you to get the non ASIO modes working better. I can't confirm that though but the Bakers released some tests regarding this in the eZine after they made the improvements.

I am not sure if the BT drivers will accept a "middleman" in the form of ASIO4ALL, etc. Everything I have ever used BT with accesses the BT drivers directly from the program (whatever it may be).
