Interesting, you have problems, I NEVER have had a problem with CC downloads, and have dome many many updates thru it, first I was on a 60 meg cable connection, now I am on a 3 meg UVerse connection(slow as heck) but still no problems...

dont blame cakewalk or the app, look at YOUR system, reinstall the CC maybe..

FYI, I'm not "blaming" anyone, just saying it is frustrating.  I didn't install anything new or different, just went to get the latest update back in July and it started screwing up at that point for whatever reason and has ever since then.  I code for a living, albeit not DAW software but still it's not like I'm some rank newbie here.  I think the best possibility may be my wireless setup as referenced by someone in this thread, but I don't use SONAR on a laptop so trying a direct connection will be tricky and involve a LONG CAT5 connection lol.

In any event, obviously something is wrong and I've changed nothing to cause it, but Windows being Windows, you never know when stuff craps out like that.

yup. agree that windows does mess things up, been there myself.. wirelesss, AFA I am concerned is a iffy connection, you code, I do networking for a living, so quid pro quo,  but not to carp, the software, is not an issue unless there is a corruption in a download OR a system hoses up an app ,IOW it leaves clean, once it gets to your platform then look inside

Yep. My cable is 50 ft. long. I've run them as much as 600 ft. in the past. Found it to be much more reliable.

Are you on wireless? I have to hook my laptop up to ethernet. Otherwise, I get corrupt downloads. I don't think it's Cakewalk because it happens with all downloads on the laptop. The studio tower, I've never had a problem, and it's always on ethernet cable.

Interesting.

I downloaded the Jamaica update last night over wireless to my laptop and it went without a hitch.

Ditto for all the previous updates.

What I've been doing mostly is deleting the half baked file download and starting over, which works MOST of the time.  If not, I delete the half-baked download, and manually download the file from cakewalk directly and that works most of the rest of the time.

Thing is, I shouldn't have to do that at all.  And my computer is basically state of the art and THIS program is the only one with issues.  I also have a 150mb/s cable connection so that ain't it either.  I just got it done, but it's simply annoying as hell.

I'm on ADSL in rural New Zealand, lucky to get 10 Mbps down and I have never seen this problem.  While it takes a while, every update done through CCC has been 100% successful.  In fact, even when my ADSL has dropped out part way though CCC updating, it has resumed and I have not had a problem.

There must be something else going on if you are getting this problem.  Might be worth contacting CW tech support to see if they have any suggestions.  I dream of 150 Mbps!

This thread makes me tried the latest CC for the first time (been avoiding it last time due to some reported issues).

No issue for me. Not only it updated to the latest Platinum, it also showed that I've got a few sound libraries purchased but no installed. Just want to report all updates went by fine.

Also, check your antivirus. I tested Comodo for awhile early this year and started getting random corrupt files when downloading. I thought it might be my router or simply a noisy connection. Disabling Comodo stopped the problems. I reported it to them and promptly uninstalled.

I have my tower connected via a cable to an access point that connects to the main router over a wireless connection. I have no issues with CCC downloads with this somewhat problematic lash-up. Hope you figure out your issues.

Wife's tower is on wireless, and she has no problem downloading files. Why my laptop was corrupting files, I could never figure out. I only know that when I hook it up to cable, the problem stopped.

To OP I would strongly recommend running chkdsk /R from an admin command prompt at the earliest opportunity anyway. Do it for all your hard drives and the the PC on overnight to check for errors. (e.g. chkdsk C: /R, chkdsk D: /R, etc). Always backup.
