hi, this is what i'm doing, track 1- guitar through POD HP using a S/PDIF out to focousrite scarlett 6i6 then out using S/PDIF to monitors.
track 2, vocal mic into channel 1 on the 6i6
also, i have Superior Drummer 2.0 taking up about 12 tracks.
this is what i'm having problems with. the drums are routed to a bus and i see what's happening on the main/master, on the vox channel i use "vx-64 vocal strip" when i record with that plug in i have to use input echo, i can see that in the same main/master. here's the problem, when i'm in recording mode the guitar signal does not show up in the main/master UNLESS i use input echo. that will not work because of latency or echoland whatever. i do see the guitar signal in the main/master during playback.
there are a couple things that sonar X2 didn't have one is many main/master strips i seem to be able to route the guitar to one of them, but i want everything that's being recorded to show on 1 main/master. do you have any idea what i'm talking about?
also, i'm using a focusrite scarlett 6i6, this is the most complicated piece of hardware i have ever used. naturally i'm wondering if i'm doing something wrong in platinum or the 6i6. i would be most grateful for any suggestions/idea's anyone would have.
thanks

Without digging into whatever weird routing you've got going on...

Disable the PX64 Vocal Strip while recording and your latency will go away (or a bunch of it should).

IIRC it has "lookahead" stuff going on so immediately adds latency and is absolutely NOT needed for tracking. It is meant as a mixing tool. If you are not recording into that track and still want the effect on whatever you may have already recorded into that track (I'm assuming a vocal part) just Freeze that track temporarily and the VX64 will remove itself from your project thus eliminating any latency it is causing but still providing the effect you are using for (you just can't adjust it until you unfreeze it).

Then you will be able to engage your input Echo without latency which seems to be the crux of the issue here. You NEED to have Input Echo enable to hear the track input.

However if you are still experience latency adjust your Scarlett interface buffers lower (I use about 4ms for recording and 10ms or more for everything else). If you experience clicks or pops then freeze as many synths and effects as you can until the pops/crackles go away.

All pretty straightforward stuff.

Cheers.
