It's always recommended to use a 7200RPM drive for the samples in the following order:

1) Non-system non-audio SATA internal
2) Non-system non-audio SATA external
3) Non-system non-audio FW800 external
4) Non-system non-audio FW400 external
5) Non-system non-audio USB external
6) System drive

Start at the top and go down the list and select the option closest to the top which works for you.

Rail

That is some good and timely info, Rail. Kind of glad I waited until today to install Rock Legends. I'll toss it on my E drive. Any special steps to take to find the samples? Like a scan function within BFD? Thanks again for all your help here. Cheers.

@pentimentosound... I'm just glad you found it useful. That makes all the typing worth it. :-)

Create a folder named e:\Rock legends and install there...  The installer should automatically add the path... Next time you run BFD Eco it should scan and find the new data and prompt you to run License Manager to authorize the new data.  If it doesn't happen automatically see my previous post (#61) above about adding a data path or rebuilding the databases in the Options menu.

Does anyone reading this thread happen to know whether the Beta update that Beepster installed is relevant to using Eco? That's one part of his journey that seemed a little out of the ordinary...

Sorry, stevec. I could have detailed that further. There were actually little descriptions alongside those downloads. Not very detailed mind you but they might have helped you figure out what they were. I just didn't feel like typing it all up. I think it was just some improvements and bug fixes. That update came out a couple months ago whereas the main update was from about a year ago.

The public beta (1.5.1.0) fixes a single issue:

"This Eco build introduces fixes for the effects preset selectors. The effects now look for Eco presets, not BFD2 presets."

You should run the public beta.

I'm just checking out the PS Andy John's Classic Drums pack. I'm really gonna have to to snag this if I can scrounge up the cash. Those will work with Eco right, Rail? For everyone else here are the demos... https://www.platinumsamples.com/Examples.html and the kit details... https://www.platinumsampl...tLists/AndyKitList.php Sounds awesome.
