Definitely look in to Sylvan's offer. Sounds like he even has a very good room to work in. And interacting with other studio guys can be very valuable as well.
You can spend a lot of time and treasure chasing great drum sounds. I know, I did. I have plenty of inputs, good preamps, and some really decent mics, but the sounds are still elusive. And having a seasoned drummer that has patience with the recording process is important.
EZ drummer, AD and all are great, and many of the sounds are superb. But learning to program them in a way that doesn't sound mechanical and disjointed from the other instruments is challenging and a skill in its own right.
