Hi all, I'm learning z3ta+ 2 and am trying to learn the modulation matrix. I have setup a simple patch with a saw wave. I'm trying to use the modwheel to start from the original pitch of a note and go up an octave. In the modulation matrix I have:

[Source: Osc 1] [Range: Full] [Control: Modwheel] [Destination: Osc 1 Pitch]

My issue is the mod wheel starts out lower than the original value, completely silent, and works up to the original note at the TOP of the wheel.

... The modwheel only plays the original sound of the note at the top of the wheel. It does not go higher than that pitch. What I'm trying to do is have the original note start at the beginning of the wheel, and go up from there.

How can I correctly set this up to where the first note, at the bottom of the modwheel, is the original value of the parameter? Thanks for any help, sorry of this description is confusing but the way this is setup seems backwards from a traditional modwheel routing. Many thanks for any input.

from your description the fifth parameter (Curve) is missing: did you set it to "Pitch"? Pitch can have four different ranges: semitone (useful for the vibrato effect), tone, one octave, four octaves

Aha, ok, that's a little different.

Is there a means of setting this curve to a value other than the ones listed? Likewise is there a way to set the pitch bend wheel itself to a value higher than 1 octave as shown in the perform tab?

Thank you

1. you can set any value you want through the range parameter example: range=50% and curve = pitch 4 oct gives you a 2 octave range 2. yes, you can override the bend setting in the perform tab by forcing the pitch bend in the mod matrix directly. Please note that you can stack more settings in different rows, as the modulation is additive, so for example: [Source:ON][Range:50%][Curve:PITCH4OCT][Control:B-BEND][Destination:Osc1Pitch] [Source:ON][Range:100%][Curve:PITCH1OCT][Control:B-BEND][Destination:Osc1Pitch] gives you a 3 octave bending 3. by the way, in your example replace [Source: Osc 1] with [Source: ON]

sorry I still have formatting issues with this forum lately, I hope you can read

Your reply was extremely helpful, thank you. I am REALLY LOVING z3ta+2. Honestly, I have to say it's fast becoming my favorite synth.

It seems really straight forward to begin playing around with an init patch and design something usable and that sounds great.
