Hi

Since I have no projects to be hurried I decided to have a go at updating to Win 10.

I have ghosted all that I have for just In case of roll back Is needed.

Everything went to plan UNTIL!!
I have a Tyros 5 and I7 computer running an Asus P6T graphic card with 12 gig of ram and Focusrite Scarlett 6i6 box..
The graphics card and my motherboard is getting on a bit,so 2020 new Hyper Computer.

All is running fine and I have found out that all vst's are ok except Native Pro 57.
Arturia synths have to be re-Authorized.

Sampletank,Korg Collection, Fm8,all working fine.
The only thing bugging me Is the slow boot time.At first I had a black Screen and a white pointer.
I restarted and had a black and slightly lighter screen for a while and boot up after 40 seconds.
Now 30  seconds average. It maybe that I do not know what to tweak yet.
I would like to boot faster ,but I do not know how at this moment.
When you update ,you have to re-load some vst's to get working just right because of  dongles and authorizations.
At this moment I have great hope and i am thinking this is a wise move.
Dreams of course can be shattered!!
Now I have to uninstall some vst's and re-load to get recognized and hopefully that will suffice.
I  have noticed that certain things are more speedy and there Is no glitches In the sound.
You will notice that the order of things change ,which throws you at the start, but If you are streetwise you will get around that.
I will keep you al posted as i live and die by the sword!!
At this moment In time I have just retired and i will say that I am not a old thinking git!!
I am 64 now and have great aspirations and retirement means putting more practice into playing live without Lego bricks.
I love 60s and 70s psychedelic  music and dexterity is what I am seeking more than ever.
I am now at the point of playing comfortable and slowly I will conquer the multi tracking game.
I will say that with the sounds that are out on these vst's,good playing and imagination could start a new revolution in music.
THAT IS ONLY IN MY OPINION!!
Today's  modern music Is like children playing with wind up toys that repeat repeat and repeat.
I would like to see musicians think story lines and make it mean something, rather than repetitive rubbish.
Just look at Tarkus from ELP and then you will have the idea.
It Is really weird being 65 nearly as you realize that you are In your last quarter and achieved nearly all,but never really reaching the sumit.
I have had my 15minutes of fame as a 60s 70s Dj, but today realize love is the answer to life!!  -- I am an old softy!!
I wonder If we have another life, will there will be 16 notes In an octave!!!!--- Interesting!!

All the best

"Other equal divisions of the octave that have found occasional use include 14-TET, 15-TET, 16-TET, 17-TET, 19-TET, 22-TET, 46-TET, ..."

I am also retired and 64 about to be 65 real soon. Like you I have a love of psychedelic music and played in several bands back in the day. I also have a love and soft spot for surf guitar.
I am going to take the plunge into Windows 10 in November form Windows 7
Looking forward to reading about your experience with the new os.     Dan

First couple of days ignore the boot times they will be long. Auto updates to install and Windows is optimizing the boot speed by learning. You've updated the display drivers by now I assume. Cheers

Hi
I must admit Dok that the boot time this morning was super quick.
The Display drivers I have will have to do as my ATI Radeon 3450  stopped updating since 2013.
I checked the Dx Diag  and all running ok.
The only thing is that Direct Show may have had a problem after opening something and microsoft will Inform me if there is a solution. This came up In a pop up box.Probably nothing much.
The other thing Is Native Pro 53 Is not working and I cannot uninstall It Either.Tried all ways as the uninstaller just freezes.
I will go to the Native site and ask a few questions about this.
Sampletank works great ,but Miroslav ,Sampletron etc  do not want to play ball.
I have read somewhere you can integrate these Into sampletank .Will have a look later.
It seems that 32 bit stuff may have problems at the moment.
Other than that all seems to be going well.
No glitches yet,just some incompatibilities.

CC Cleaner runs ok
Malwarebytes runs ok
Norton runs ok

all the best

You've checked nvidia ls website?
I strongly advise running a registry cleaner at this stage, cccleaner notoriious for corrupting new OS's.
If you have issues with Sonar running the update again often fixes things, as does deleting AUD.INI it appears.

Hi Dok
I have ATI Radeon not Nvidia. I am not quite with you there.
I have no problems with Sonar as yet
What is the best reg cleaner to date???
I am just having problems with Native Instruments Pro 53
Cannot uninstall the damn thing either as the uninstaller for It freezes.
Have put a ticket into Native and now waiting for an answer as what to do.
I must admit It is like a naughty boy has just thrown all of his toys around the room and you have to put everything back In It's place.Apart from that Win 10 should be right on after a clean up.
What Is this Audi ini ?? "I am not a computer wiz quite yet!!

All the Best

Aud.ini is Sonar's initialisation file.

You can delete it with impunity as if Sonar doesn't find it the next time you boot, it will create a new one for you.
This has been known to solve a number of stability & other related issues.
If you're of a nervous disposition, before deleting it, re-name it so that you can get back to square one if it al goes belly up (exTREMELY unlikely)
