Okay, I am totally baffled on the internet requirement to make the apostrophe work.

@mettelus me too. Just does not make sense that the string is only parsed correctly with the internet is available.

Makes me wonder just what is going back and forth during the data exchange.

I figured the bug is in the new code in the start screen, not in the Internet data exchange per se.

Are you saying that if you unplug or disable the network, the Start Screen works with the apostrophe'd filenames?

If so, Huh.

Other way around... As long as plugged in, they work. (Same Huh? Though)

it implies that the parsing is happening on the server rather than "in the start screen" - maybe it was a quicker/easier "fix" to do it there?

As a NCFC fan I find the name offensive.

As an ITFC fan I'm delighted!

Love the realtime synth recording addition. I recorded over 48 addictive drums outputs from 3 instances in total, without a hitch (SSD). I love this, since I like to old skool cut and flip audio clips, over midi often. Performance seems superb.

Mattelus has it right except I don't unplug the cable I have a firewall rule that blocks the sonar executable from the internet. When access is blocked the new start screen will not open files that have the apostrophe in the path or file name. When the internet access is restored it works.

Just to test it I disabled my firewall rule and then disconnected the network cable and I get the same failure to open the file. Reconnect the network and it works again.

While I was looking at the firewall rules I noticed that there was a rule created to allow internet access to the start menu executable. Changing this rule to block access just makes the start menu fail completely with our without a network connection. I have set everything back to its initial state and the start menu works again.

For performance reasons I prefer to have the internet access for sonar blocked.

So if there is no interest from cake to "FIX" this I will just have to disable the start menu completely as it is not useful to me in it's current state.

Yeesh. This is exactly the type of crud that makes me want the "Call Home" component of the Startscreen/Sonar to be an OPTION that can be set to only connect when the user decides.

There is no useful reason for that behavior. At least nothing useful enough to require it to be always on.

I seriously hope this isn't the first step towards some creepy "always online/reg checker/data mining" crap. Just because the other kids are doing it doesn't make it okay.
