Is there a way to lock the volume automation envelopes to the clips they are on?  I have a speaking dialog that is going to be around an hour long...and I have found a few mistakes, which are going to have to be re-recorded.  The recording is being done on a digital recorder elsewhere, so I have to bring the files into Sonar for editing.

My problem is...if I have to slide any of the audio that I have already edited with volume envelopes (to adjust for clip length)...it messes up my automation.  Some of the nodes are zero'd to the bottom (muted).  This will cause me to have to go thru the whole 1 hour recording and fix the automation.

I have Sony Vegas 12 Pro...and with Vegas, you can just tell it to lock envelopes to events (clips) and anytime you move a clip...the automation nodes move right along with it without changing any of them.

Surely Sonar has the same type of setting...but I have yet to find it in the preferences or help file.

Thanks for any help on this.

Don't have SONAR in front of me, but IIRC under Options in Track View you can select "move envelopes with clips." I use it all the time...it works.

As someone who does narration in SONAR to import into Vegas all the time, I know exactly where you're coming from

It's actually "Select Track Envelopes With Clips" but as you say Craig, it works perfectly.

Using this you can ctrl + click to select multiple clip and move just those along with any automation.

Wonderful...!  Thanks Craig and BJ.  This will be a life saver for me. :)
