  • X3 Starts Very Slowly

When I start Sonar X3 Producer, it takes an age for it to get going (50 seconds on a stopwatch).  I just upgraded to an SSD for my OS and hoped that would make a difference.  Computer boot time is down to almost instant, but X3 still takes forever.

VST scan options are set to manual, and I've noticed that since putting in the SSD, there is almost no hard drive noise at all during Sonar startup.  That indicates to me that the program is barely - if at all - accessing my data hard drive.

Any suggestions on how to get a faster program start time?  A couple of minutes of wait time every time there's a crash or issue is a real drag.

Thanks,
Seth

Starting with or without a project? If with a project simply make it empty .
If you are running any antivirus exclude some Sonar directories and Sonar process from realtime scan.
Install X3E patch.
Check this:
https://www.cakewalk.com/Support/Knowledge-Base/2007013315/SONAR-X3-Full-VST-Rescan-Recommended-for-Upgraders

Update your audio interface and drivers, same for your display.
Consider chipset and BIOS updates.

And you haven't given us your full PC specs.
If your machine is crashing we need far more detail about steps to repro, and the error message (check windows event viewer).

I don't know if this is related, but since installing Ipswich, seeing something unusual...

I have the start screen disabled as well as check for updates...

When I first open Sonar, it takes quite a while (a minute or two) before I can select anything to open. I continually get the not responding message.

It does finally load, but it's taking a lot longer than previously...

I'm using RME Fireface 800, and it is up to date as of the last driver version before the Windows 10 drivers (I'm on Windows 7 64 bit still).  BIOS and chipset are all up to date.  When I first open Sonar, there is no project loaded.  I'm on X3e.  I am not running real-time virus scan.

Other specs:
AMD A-8 GPU - 2.9 GHz
8 GB RAM

Sonar doesn't crash all that often, but it definitely does sometimes.  It's been that way as long as I can remember.

I looked around for options to disable the start screen, but couldn't find it.  Any help on that?

If you are on in X3E your issue is not the start screen (this is a new Platinum issue). So forget that.

Again check your event viewer for the error message. We need more info about your crash. What exactly happens, what the error message is etc. Report back when it next happens.. Screenshots would be good as well... Ta.

Confused by this, the latest for win7 is 3.115, you also need the latest firmware for it :
http://www.rme-audio.de/e...ds/driver/fireface.php

Make sure you are running the ASIO driver, if you have ASIO4ALL installed remove it..
