1. From "Piano roll".... where is the old speaker icon (SONAR 8.5) in order to play some notes/chord at once time? 2. When I double click on a track, it opens the piano roll on the main window... how to open this window out of the main window? (or how to disable this option permanently?)

1. Press J to access the Scrub tool.

2. Right-click on the Piano Roll tab at the bottom of the MultiDock and choose Undock.

1. Perfect, it works with J (BTW, is there any way to show this icon in the toolbar?) 2. How to undock permanently by default? (all windows). Thank you for your help.

1 . No. The toolbars can't be customized

2. How to undock permanently by default? (all windows).

Open a new project from your regular template "Normal" bu default. Then as above set up your windows choosing undock where neccesary. Make sure the current screenset is unlocked and then "save as" your "Normal" template.

In fact why not go a few steps further and set up a whole bunch of Screensets that suit the way you like to work and then save it as a template. Screensets are a very, very powerful addition to Sonar, new in X1 that when set up can speed up your workflow immensely. They are like the old layouts on steroids. They'll remember all sorts of settings - window placement, zoom levels, track manager states, edit filter states, etc, etc. You name it they'll remember it, just make sure they aren't locked or they 'forget' changes.

Ok for the undocking reply but still:
In Sonar X3, from "Piano roll".... where is the old speaker icon (SONAR 8.5) in order to play some notes/chord at once time ?

If you mean the scrub tool, the shortcut is 'j'

Four year old thread btw.

I'm a newbie in using Sonar and the following question can be silly but,
What do you mean by 'scrub tool' ? (erase tool ??)
I don't want to erase anything on that pane,
I just want the speaker icon in the piano roll pane back
to hear notes or chords on the fly while editing..

Scrub is for running your mouse over a section of MIDI notes and hear them. It plays back what is scrubbed.

To audition with the Scrub tool
1. Hold down the J key to activate the Scrub tool.
2. Drag the mouse horizontally through the Staff pane to play the notes.
SONAR plays any notes the scrub line passes over.

The above is from page 1339 of the manual.
