Jenks,

How much RAM do you have in your system?

Send the dumps in and we'll be able to process it. http://www.cakewalk.com/support/contact/problemreport.aspx

If it's actually a driver issue we can push that over to Roland. Though I have a feeling it may be a RAM issue.

I have a Win 7x64, Amd x6 1100T at home with 8GB. Even without using large sample library soft synths I can start to touch the cap. I'm not using a newer Roland interface though so I can't comment on that part.

16GB installed. - According to the memory usage meter in the performance module my project is using less the 4GB of RAM.

So, what happened when you loaded a new project with the same number of instances of Kontakt and pasted in your midi tracks from your original project?

The above will test for project corruption, and since you are doing a copy/paste of your midi data, you shouldn't lose anything from performing the test.

Please do so and post back, when you get a chance.

Another reminder to send those dmp files to CW.   Even if it is some type of project specific issue, the dmp files would hopefully reveal something...

Ok well thanks for everybody's input, very much appreciated.
I have 8 gigs in my machine (yes I know I could do with more but need new motherboard for that :-/ )
The 5 instances result in task manager show about 6gigs of that ram in use.

I started project in safe mode and loaded each instance of kontakt successfully and project opened complete with all midi data intact. I saved under a different name and it now loads perfectly so somehow it seems the original file was corrupted. I'm hesitant to mark this as solved just yet as I haven't had time to restart the PC from 'cold' . Also I will submit the dmp files to both Roland and cake plus the crashlog to NI. Maybe there is a hope that this will solve the problem or at least help solve it for all this with this Roland driver dll error.

Thanks again, will repost if anything changes.

Ok back again with the same problem. Doesn't matter how I do it it crashes every single time. If I leave the octa capture turned off, start sonar and load the project, it's completely fine until I switch octa capture on and click on Yes to sonar asking if I want it recognised. Then it crashes straightway every time.
So it seems that there is no issue with sonar/kontakt or ram unless the octa capture is involved.
Very annoying indeed.

Can you please clarify for me whether or not this is continuing to occur for the NEW project, or if it is during continued testing of the OLD project?

Thanks,

What happens if you switch the OctaCapture to WDM/KS driver mode?

Hi Bob, it happens consistently regardless of old/new/resaved/midi-copy-paste with my LA scoring strings template.... BUT..... it seems to load every time, if, after opening sonar i load another project that DOESN'T contain the LASS template first, close that, THEN open the project with the LASS template. I'm not completely holding my breath though. I await cakes take on this too having sent them a fault report - dmp- and email.

Jim: How do i do that?

Cheers
