Anyone else having problems with the Softube presets in the plugin drop-down menu not displaying in SONAR X3 (I'm at X3b).  So far, I'm only seeing this with all the Softube plugins, which happen to be VST3.  The problem is new to SONAR X3.  I can see the presets in X2.  I can create a sample project in X2 (insert an audio track, insert a plugin such as TSAR-1) and I can see the presets.  If I create the same project in X3, no presets.  Interestingly, I can open the project I created in X2 in X3 and lo and behold, I can see the presets in X3.  However, I also discovered that if I open the project I created in X2 in X3 then add another instance of that same plugin, such as TSAR-1, SONAR X3b crashes (100% reproducible) as follows:

1.  Create a new project in SONAR X2 with an audio track.
2.  Insert the Softube TSAR-1 Reverb in the FX bin on the track.
3.  With the TSAR-1 open, click the Presets drop-down arrow and observe that the list of presets displays.
4.  Save the project and close X2.
5.  Now open the project in X3b.
6.  Bring up the TSAR-1 plugin, click the Presets drop-down arrow, and observe that NO presets display.  FWIW, I'm also seeing two of the "No Preset" entries to the left of the drop-down arrow after clicking it.
7.  Close the plugin.
8.  Now insert another instance of the TSAR-1 plugin either on that track or a second track.
9.  BAMM! Fault Reporter pops and SONAR crashes.

Note: The same thing will occur adding a second instance from X2 to X3 of other Softube plugins such as Vintage Amp Room.  Crash does NOT occur by adding a different Softube plugin.

Actually two reports were created in step 9 above.

Can anyone else verify that they are seeing this?

I can verify the "no presets" bug.  I checked the VST 3 presets folder and their are none.
But when you run a Softube plugin as a VST 2 the presets show up.

I have not tried the other problem but will do so and report back.

I found that "no presets" VST 3 problem immediately when using Softube VST 3 Plugins (FET Compressor).

I also have an issue with Breverb, where if I open an instance of Breverb on a track and the try to adjust Breverb
during playback, I get pops and cracks.  Tried it on several different projects, all with the same result.  Not a
show stopper, just an annoyance...

I'll report back on the "Crash" problem tomorrow on my next project.

Dude Ivey
I only have Softube Metal Amp Room and the FET Compressor and I confirm theres no presets in the VST3 plugs but there is in the VST2. I couldn't ever make X-3b crash though.

Please note that to get the crash you have to have a VST2 and VST3 version in the same plugin in the same project.  Following my recipe will give you that.  You can also accomplish it by inserting it both ways in X3b, but my recipe is the more likely way the crash would occur in real life, i.e., bringing X2 projects forward into X3.

Dude Ivey
If im not mistaken, I believe its been noted not to use VST3 and VST2 following each other in a project. I think it was more to do with waves and maybe some UAD plugs but maybe it don't matter the brand?

This crash occurs even if the plugins are on different tracks.  They don't have to be in series if that's what you mean.

Dude Ivey
Yes I was thinking they had to be on the same track or at least that what I thought!

Was hoping this would be fixed with X3c, but still no presets.  Anyone know what the resolution might be?

Also see there are no presets in the VST3 version of Softube effects, but the presets are there in the VST2 versions.

Haven't noticed yet a crackle and pop in Breverb as clarry mentioned, but will pay attention for it in case I notice it.

I know that this is a very old thread, but I just figured out how to get the presets to work with Softube VST3s.  Instead of using the pulldown preset on the top left, what works is to click on the "VST3" pulldown tab and choose "load" and it will load presets fine.  Do not know if this was fixed with a recent Softube update or not, but presets are available.  Don't laugh at me for just figuring this out.  I know that I have been slow before, but this took a couple of years for me to figure out that VST3 presets are not shown in the "normal" preset window, but are under VST3 pulldown.

BTW, loading a Softube Vst2 in the same track as as Softube vst3 still crashes sonar, but at least reading the posts earlier in this thread explained not to do that.
