Thanks again for help...the one good thing about problems and upgrades and whatever is all the great support and concern one gets from this forum ...and you can always rely on it too.
I did reinstall Sonar 7 a while ago but I there were numerous crashes ..which is one reason I upgraded to X1D...
As for what I'm trying to do...remember recording on a tape recorder (well some of you old timers might ) you recorded at half speed an octave down, then played back at normal tempo...and you had a bright zappy full on effect...that's all I'm trying to get in Sonar. But....I liked the quick easy way the absent Time Pitch efx did it...I don't want a long messy process to replace it, Audio Labs had a good time/pitch process on there cleaning lab and I hope I can get it again.
If that's all you then the Loop Constuctor/Groove Clip stuff will get you there (which Craig mentioned).
Halve your project tempo then record your 8ve down/half speed clip normally, turn it into a Groove Clip and set it to obey Tempo AND Pitch changes. Then when you bring the tempo back up it will speed up as well. Then just increase the pitch in the Clip Inspector (I think) or Loop Inspector.
If there are artifacts go into Loop Constructor and futz with the slices for better quality/transient accuracy.
You could also use the Timing Tool to speed up a regular audio clip then use the DSP Transpose tool (like Craig also mentioned) or Melodyne to adjust pitch.
If you have X1 then you have access to VVocal as well which I think does kind of "Varispeed" effects such as this.
BTW... Varispeed is the general term you'll want to use when looking for solutions to this (plenty of third party plugs that do this and there is a Feature Request on this forum for a proper Varispeed effect to be implemented).
Good luck.
