STEPS

a) Start CCC
b) Go into CCC Settings, Tick Verbose install, click Paths tab. Save. Observe how I set up my VST paths:

c) Update Sonar, choose advanced install, eventually you will be prompted for VST path:

Now compare both screenshots and see paths are different.
The last dialogue does not state if the path is 64 or 32 bit.
In the end I gave it a path to a new folder, and nothing was installed.

What on earth is going on here??

Cheers..

Seems to be this needs to be revised and streamlined anyway. Some options were greyed out and some were not as well. Cakewalk can you look into this?

So if you want to use something other than the default you have to enter the paths every time. Probably will be listed as operating as intended. Perhaps this should be a feature request.

Er nope. As I explained it brings up the wrong VST file path(default), does not actually explain what the file VST file path is (64 bit? 32 bit? Who knows ), does nothing anyway afterwards. And some other paths settings are greyed and some are not.

It's also debatable it should even allow me to change the file path (although I don't seem to be changing it anyway if I try) as you do that in CCC settings nowadays.

There are too many irregularities here, you don't know what it is prompting for, it comes up with the wrong default values, and if you do change the values it does not seem to do anything anyway. Very confusing.

I once thought you were responding with blank responses and that was part of your signature.

Anyway back on topic. I can't throw this in problem reports yet I'm looking for either confirmation by baker or validation by community member please. I think this is quite an important issue, not a showstopper but certainly would put off newbies. A load of meaningless dialogues when upgrading manually is not the greatest thing...
