I have the latest version of Sonar Artist 64 bit and am trying to find out if SampleTank 2.5 will work with it.  In Sonar it shows a DXI for SampleTank but I use insert softsynth/DXI/Sampletank 2.x I get an error message "Failed to insert Softsynth"  When I scan for it in the VSTs it doesn't show up in the scan but when I look in programs/cakewalk/vstplugins the SampleTank dll is there.  I even made sure to install it in the Programs(x86)/cakewalk/vstplugins still the plug in manager doesn't see it.  I am assuming that bitbridge should automatically find it and make it useable?  I even tried jbridge to convert the dll and it acts like it sees it on start up but it doesn't show up in softsynths and I can't get it to find it with the plugin manager.  I am at a loss.....I was told that sampletank would work with this but I am beginning to wonder.....is there a 32 bit version of Sonar Artist?  This is very frustrating because I have the whole IK Multimedia Workstation series and if I can't get it to work it is pretty useless.  Any suggestions.

Try running 64bit SONAR as administrator
There is a 32bit version of SONAR Artist. If you install using the Command Center go to the settings page (the gear in the upper right) and check verbose install to get the 32/64bit prompt during installation.

Running as admin seemed to work.....it at least allowed me to load SampleTank into a project.  I need to try it for a while and see if there are any issues.....if there are I may load the 32 bit version.  Can you have both 32 bit and 64 bit on the same machine? Thanks a bunch for the help.

Yes, while they share a common user directory the program and plug-ins install in separate paths. I believe it is common for those transitioning to 64bit or maintaining a catalog of projects created with older versions of SONAR to install both 32bit and 64bit versions.

Okay SampleTank shows as a selection -> SampleTank2.x (32 bit) but I get an error message anytime I try to install it.  I know I was able to install it once yesterday when I did what you said as admin.  So it looks like I can only run SampleTank as admin so I set it up so anytime Sonar opens I am running it as admin and that seems to work.  Getting used to this jump to a new computer and a new version of Sonar has quite a learning curve.  Thanks again for your help.

I had a trouble installing Miroslav Philharmonic. Seems that anything higher than Sample Tank 2 is not seen by Sonar as a plugin even though you have .dll file in a proper folder. I run Miroslav in Sample Tank 2 and it works fine. You will be fine too as long as your library can be played by Sample Tank 2.

I have Workstation XL on DVDs which has the full series but the versions I am downloading come from IK Multimedia download which is newer.  I am using SampleTank 2.54.  Once I set up to open as admin it at least allows me to add ST as a softsynth.  Going to try it tonight to make sure it works.  I am having issues with my midi files stuttering now that I have to resolve or they are going to be useless.

Try increasing the "Prepare Using nnn Millisecond Buffer" in Preferences > MIDI > Playback and Recording from 250 (the default) to 500 or 750.
