  • Transport Sluggish With Ipswich [WORKAROUND]

Hi! I just upgraded to Ipswich a few hours ago and now there is a slight (~ 1 second) delay when I press "play" on the transport or space bar on the keyboard. I've only tested it with one pre-existing project, but it only has two acoustic guitar tracks, nothing else, and it was working yesterday (before the upgrade).

Has anyone experienced this, and/or can anyone suggest a solution?

I've noticed the same thing. This is regardless of my sample rates, etc.

I saw the same action but with a four second delay. I used a previous project as a template since I was going to use the same instruments. With ipswitch my "new" project had the delay. I copied the project with another name and eliminated all but a reference track and the problem went away.

When I get time I'll go back and try to pin down the culprit.

Larry,

What are you using for an audio interface?

Walt - It's a Focusrite Scarlett 6i6, and I should add that it and everything alse was working properly before the Ipswich upgrade.

Doctor - This seems to have worked for me. Transport controls are snappy as previously. I don't remember how I had that set before. I wonder if Ipswich flipped the switch, as it were, or if there is something else at work here. I have seen this problem on the forum in the past, with no definitive answers. The common answers were 1.) upgrade your audio interface drivers (I have the latest Mix Control - don't see a separate download for driver), and 2.) raise your read/write buffer settings (mine are at 256), but I didn't see any issues marked "solved." If WallyG and PilotGav (above) are having the same malfunction there might be something wrong with Ipswich.

Anyone else?

Turning off "Allow Arm Changes During Playback/Record" worked for me too. Thanks again Doktor!

Two things: I should have said thank you to Doctor Avalanche, although I did mark his response "helpful," and now, even though I rarely use the feature of arming/disarming tracks while the transport is moving, I used to be able to do it and now I can't, so that kind of grates on me. But at least I can work.

Doctor, if you know, what makes you think Cakewalk is working on this?

If you enable the record button on the track before you start playback, can't you still press "R" while playing to instantly record?
