I have been trying to do couple phase tricks with Channel Tools but that plugin has been crashing Sonar many times.
Guaranteed crash if you insert it while a track is playing, there is a chance it works once the audio engine is stopped though.
Also I recall this plugin used to work flawlessly in the past...

if you can get producible crashes with channel tools I would pass it on to Cakewalk support / dev. They are really eager to get these issues ironed out these days.

On my end it's working fine, but I have to admit it has last seen heavy use in Foxboro and I don't know whether it has been updated since ... and I don't think I inserted while a track is playing ...

However, there is one issue I have with Channel Tools: The link button does not work properly i.e. if you change sample rate on the left channel, the right channel (being greyed out because it is linked) does not change, inducing delay time differences between L and R, creating a false panning sound ... e.g. your snare starts leaving the center while pan knob is set to center ... and that can be hard to figure out unless you know about it ...

I don't know why you would insert a plugin while the track is playing but if that's the only time it crashes then I suppose it's something that is not good to do but the only issue I have with Channel tools is when inserting it on a track it produces a loud pop noise then there is no sound on playback and sometimes it keeps popping. I have to save and close and open the project and all is good. I have to do this with every instance of Channel Tools. It has never crashed the project though and I never tried inserting a plugin while the project is playing. I think there is another thread describing the issue I have but I don't think the issue was ever resolved.

Can you get it to crash on a brand new project?

It's actually quite handy for anything that colors your sound. hit playback, add a plugin, change the sequence of the plugs, ... immediately hear the difference ... it's great that this usually works although with some plugs you maybe asking for too much ...

That is exactly how it starts but then the whole project freezes and crashes. Yesterday saw the output track meters slowly going up after inserting it and then boom no more project.
And indeed stopping the project and reopening it solves the issue.

See my previous Q. You seem to confirm this is project specific..
