  • [SOLVED] Nudging via the numeric keypad not working anymore

Nudging via the numeric keypad has stopped working altogether in X3. I've tested it in several different projects. The keybindings are still present. Nudging via the menu still works. Sometimes pressing one of the numeric keys results in a weird graphic glitch in Track View. I'm wondering if a re-install might be necessary.

It still works fine in X2.

When I have seen others report problems with the numeric pad, it usually involves accidentally hitting numpad 0 which toggles a special edit mode.

I'm not hitting anything accidentally. Certainly not while I'm trying to determine whether particular keys are working correctly. My keystrokes are all very deliberate.

Make sure your settings in preferences>nudge are set correctly.  This is often overlooked.

But then again...

I tried pressing numpad 0 and it started working again. Thanks for that.

So how can I disable "special edit mode"?

IIRC it is possible to disable the special edit mode by setting num 0 to "Do nothing" in Preferences > Customization > Keyboard Shortcuts

I can't find this feature listed in the keyboard shortcuts. Does it have another name?

With a project loaded and Area set to "Global Bindings" the key Num 0 while showing [Unassigned] is in bold indicating it is assigned to something. Try binding it to "Do Nothing. Use to block pre-defined accelerators" and see if it blocks the special edit mode.

That worked. Thanks. I'd forgotten, but I've done this before when I disabled the O key for Offset Mode.
