Good idea, so another +1 from me.
However, I have to say that despite being an obsessive automation tweaker I've never found this to be a problem. That's simply because I almost never move nodes in less than 1dB increments. Smaller changes are just, well, being overly-obsessive. You
think you hear an improvement after a half-decibel change, but it's an illusion.
Whenever I want to move a node precisely, I set its value manually via the Properties dialog. I realize that this wouldn't be practical for recorded automation, though. It works for me because all my automation is manually created, so a track will typically have only a few dozen nodes, not the thousands of points that recorded automation yields.
