  • Is there a " standard" desktop PC audio interface that is universally accepted?

I had an old EMU card which actually worked fine, I upgraded to an Akai EIE and now suffer stutter and drop out, I've tried everything and just want to move on from it....but I need something solid and has a proven track record.
Nothing fancy...it's for recording multi track synth only ...no mikes or multi inputs.

I wouldn't rule out the new Tascam lineup either.

I think the Creative SoundBlaster got the closest. I'd be surprised if anyone was using them today, though.

yeah no standard interfaces out there but I can personally vouch for the RME line up on older OS's only cuz I havent tested them on the newest ones, but im sure they will work fine.. Right now I have been using Focusrites and they have been amazing and would be great value for the money for what you are doing..

Great....thanks for your suggestions and help...I'm afraid the akai EIE has been nothing but trouble from day one ...I'm suspecting general USB connection too...but I'll certainly look into Focusrite.
Again my EMU card was solid.

Yeah I use to have a EMU back in the day and loved it...  Just not enough in and outs for me
