I have noticed the following:
 
After launching the Platinum, The Start Screen takes quite long to appear. It happens only when I am connected to slow internet as it tries to access http://www.cakewalk.com/Start/SONAR#
 
But if I disconnect the internet it appears fast.
 
Also in the above case The recent projects are not being shown, even if it is clicked. But works fine when internet is disconnected.
 
As far as Video tutorials are they streamed from net directly or they get stored somewhere in the hard disk. Are the same as in CakeTV / Sonar university?

Ipswitch Update 1 startup time is certainly much slower than Gloucester by a mile with start screen enabled. There have been many reports about this since it has been launched.

I can't confirm the recent project behaviour but others have confirmed it. Are you on Ipswitch update 1?

There is another bug I've reported in problem reports forums whereby start screen does not close.

Disable it in preferences I suggest it's not ready for the big time...

Just now I have tested. I disconnected the Internet the Start Screen pops up almost immediately.
 
 

I can confirm this as well.
 
Currently I have a firewall rule to block the Sonar executable from outbound communication. This allows the computer to stay connected to the internet for other updates the CCC etc.
