I have Sonar x3.  I just watched an instructional video on how to use it, and I discovered that I do not have the Tape Emulator.

What I'm I missing?

Thanks

Hi. Did this happen recently, or has it been like this the whole time? Have you tried to do a vst reset and rescan? Preferences (P), File, VST Settings.

The ProChannel is more of a Platinum feature, it has 11 modules whereas SONAR Professional has 4 modules, Platinum includes the modules in Professional along with the Tape Emulator, Console Emulator, Breverb Sonar, Tube Saturation, PC4K, and PC76 compresosor. Also, the Platinum QuadCurve EQ has a flyout spectrum analyzer function.

The OP says he's using Sonar x3e Professional. He probably means "Producer". If so, the Tape Emulator should be present.

According to the online help, the Tape Emulator PC module is part of X3 Producer

Well if he has Producer, then he should indeed have the Tape Emulator...in which case I recommend the good ol' Reset + Rescan.

This is the first time I really started using the Pro Channel.  I have messed a little with it before, but now that I am getting into more mixing, I see that the Pro Channel is a huge asset and I am trying to learn how to use it.  I don't know how to reset the VST and rescan, but I will try to figure it out.  Also, I am going to look into some older projects to see if the tape emulator is present or not.

I have attached a picture to show what the Pro Channel looks like, via a dropbox link.  I am not sure that this the correct way to attach a picture as I don't see it in the post. Therefore, here is the actual link here.  https://www.dropbox.com/s/kb3lc4wbx5vikjt/Pro%20Channel%20Problem.jpg?dl=0  If not, please let me know and I will follow instructions.

Thanks for the input.

Hi all, and thank you for the input.

I did a full reset, and scan as suggested.  The Pro Channel still does not show the tape emulator.  I restarted the program, and also even restarted the computer, no luck.  I have Compressor, EQ, Tube, and Console Emulator.  That's it, no tape emulator.

I did notice that the manual scan showed that it found 71 plugins found 69 New.  However, when I restart Sonar, that automatic VST scan says found 62 plugins found, 0 New, 0 Removed, 0 errors.  Maybe this information will help explain what is going on.

Also, wanted to mention that I do have Sonar x3 Producer, x3e build 352 - x64.

Any other help and suggestions are much appreciated!
Thanks

There are several ProChannel modules which are included that have not been mentioned. Are you reporting what you see in the current ProChannel strip or the modules available when trying to insert a module into the strip?

OK, I think I figured out something about this.  I accidentally found the button on the master switch where you can add different modules including tape saturation, others, and even reverb.  This is very cool.

Still confused why I am only finding 62 VST plugins on automatic scan, when 71 Plugins come up on Manual reset and scan.

I suppose it is a bad idea to use the reverb on all of the vocal tracks instead of busing all vocals to send with effects right?
