Hey Jonboper,
I was searching up this issue myself when I came across your post.
The issues I have is that Fabfilter plug ins are causing some sort of audio dropout of audio in sessions I have.
Initially I thought I had a hardware driver problem but it only causes the problem in Sonar (Platinum) - not Albeton, Pro Tools or Cubase ( I have trialed a bunch of other SW to try to work out if it's a problem with my HW)
My system is a HP Z420 with 24 Gigs RAM - It's modern/fast and dedicated to Music only.
I am running Sonar Platinum 21.8 release Ipswich
HW tried - Avid HD Native, Avid Eleven Rack, M-Audio C400, Presonus Firebox
steps to reproduce- 1) start with a session that is playing fine - the one I have is about 15 tracks, 4 Audio the rest instruments ( Native Instruments, AAS CHromophone, Air instruments Velvet, Z3ta )
- 2) add a Fabfilter Micro (single filter) V 1.13 VST2 version
result- a) when you add the plug in, the CPU meters ( which have been hovering at about 5-10%) jump to the red briefly as the plug in is added.
- b) there are now regular dropouts of audio every 5 seconds or so
- c) removing the plug in does NOT stop the problem - you need to quick Sonar & restart to recover your project
- d) happens on all HW tried (PCIe card, USB 2, Firewire)
- e) DPC Latency checker shows no problem - there aren't other drivers conflicting with the HW
- f) the CPU meters of Sonar only randomly show spikes - most of the time they look like there is no problem but will randomly spike during playback and when you stop/rewind.
- g) on some occasions playback stops complete with the "audio dropout" dialogue
