I agree- people have been requesting an update to the scoring to video tools within Sonar, and I think an overhaul on that front is long overdue. It's undeniable that many other sequencers are MUCH better with picture. With this workaround, I'm at least functional though. Let me know if you have any trouble and good luck!

Just a note I've posted ton of times.   I do not even bother trying to get qt files to work in sonar.  As soon as my client sends me one (any picture format) I drop it into Veags,  put the 1st frame at :10 ( I have a template) and generate a mpeg1 file.

I never worry if Sonar is going to work with the pic file,  and i know where the pic  is going to start everytime.  I have templates in both Vegas and Sonar.  I save myself hours of headaches.

The newer QT files are bogging down in Vegas,  but Vegas can still render a new file.

Trying to get Sonar to use QT files is just shooting yourself in the foot.

We pretty much use QT video files exclusively in Sonar. It's not a problem here.

Regarding 64 bit quicktime: It doesn't exist on windows. Apple needs to make one, and then Sonar can probably use it.

But, if Cakewalk were serious about scoring to video, they would make a 'bridge' in Sonar 64 bit that could use the 32 bit quicktime libraries. So it's not entirely on Apple, Cakewalk could do something about it if they really wanted to.

Yes, this has been my entire point!

Thanks, Eotm!

Thanks, Jimbo!....Very cool.

I'll try AVS first, then potentially Vegas, if I have to start spending money :)

Thanks for all your help here, amd!

Yes, I agree CW should up their scoring functionalities.

Many DAWs offer better scoring to picture features because this is where a SIGNIFICANT amount
of the professional work available in the industry is today - especially for project studios
and independent composers and producers.

If you can't score to picture - at least BASICALLY - you're going to miss out
on potential available work in the industry!

So, come on, CW - get your act together.

Please.

I LOVE your products, but I also have to EAT :)

And if I can't get basic industry scoring to picture work,
how am I supposed to be able to afford your sw :)

Seriously, if CW wants to compete, and offer competitive sw
with competitive standard industry features, then they've GOT to address basic video scoring.

I mean every teenager and their mother scores to picture these days.

There is no native Quicktime x64 component available. At least Steinberg managed to provide a very efficient QT wrapper for x64 systems but I doubt Cakewalk will invest time in such an effort for Sonar.
I´m scoring to picture in x64 without issues, although not with Sonar.
