We really need to stop buying Apple products people! No matter how pretty they look.....

Please, for the good of the world!

R

I don´t give a sh** on apple products, I am already boykotting them by not buying anything from them for 5 years

I hate the myPhone, myTunes, and myJobbs guru scientology sect-like behaviour

i thought you boycotted sonar too?

.

Listen, guys No offense, but this is about work.

I'm not a hobbiest here. I need to get work done.

So, as much as I'd love to live in an ideological fantasy,
the fact remains that I get  .MOV files from my agents - more than others,
and I need to be able to deliver them scored product.

Please let's move the amateur Apple hate somewhere else.

Besides, you you're preaching to the choir...
I've been using CW sw since literally 1991.
And professionally, since before it was audio sw.

Thanks for your help, and all your responses.

Any further workarounds and ideas are much appreciated!

Cheers, guys - you rock!

what settings are working well for you in Vegas - what codecs are you using? How big are the files being output? thnks for sharing the info!

You know,  i'm not sure what the codecs are that Vegas generates.  I know that if i create a mpeg-1 or an AVI file,  both work well.  AVI files are way larger, 10 minutes can be into gigabytes, but are suppose to use less cpu power.

Some QT files will work fine for me,  because I have the latest version of QT Pro on my computor which Sonar will use,  but some will not.  There are a lot of different things that AVIDs (Digidesign video editing systems) will do to QT files,  so I do not even bother with it.

Something i'd like to point out.  I place my 1st frame of video at :10 for lots of good reasons.  Many times you will will recieve updated video versions from clients and different editors are involved and the picture will have a different starting point.  Like a :03 lead-in instead of :01,  then you will spend time re syncing your start...a total waste of time.

I need to throw my hat into the ring here. I've been asking for scoring/video updates in Sonar for ages. I score to picture for a living as well.....i had to run a 32Sonar 8.5 and a 64 Sonar 8.5 just so i could run MOVs in the 32 bit one. Non video projects i used 64bit. I do feel that CW is not catering to the scorer.....i don't know why. And don't get me started about the controls on video dialog box! I just installed X1 64, and right out of the box it won't load an mpg2 file. It should at least do that.
Here's hoping...

There is nothing that Cakewalk can do about it - we would have if we could. Quicktime support in SONAR relies on the quicktime API from Apple. Apple has not released a 64 bit version of their SDK yet and I have no idea whether they have plans to do so.
I suppose it could be hacked with bridging. Just what we need - another 32x64 bridge right? :)

YES LOL
And Quicktime are already x64bit....but only on MAC ofcourse not PC...
What a joke Apple is...No "Flash" on Iphone either, they can't own or buy the software... Adobe doesn't want to sell the technology to APPLE...so then no Flashplayer-on Ipad or Iphone ... adobe have already made a 100% FREE "preVersion" of Flashplayer for iphone and Ipad. Its 100% free for Apple or anyone else to use---but APPLE won't allow it!

what's next @ Apple..no Microsoft Word on MAC becuase Apple can't own it? *I say; I"loser"...hustler...

*this post were made with BETA X64bit Flashplayer V10.3 X64bit

Hey since we're on the topic of scoring, how in hell do you create a marker-based list of tempos in Sonar? Been wondering that for many years, but there has to be a way...

Wouldn't an easy solution be to just include a .mov converter, so when you imported any .mov X1 would prompt you to confirm the conversion and then load that new file automatically?

Something like "Convert movie1.mov to movie1.mpeg?" with a drop down list of all the convertable file types.

I don't know if this would help or is even possible, but just an idea that came to me while reading this thread. What about rewiring something like Reaper to Sonar, using Reaper for video and Sonar for everything else.

Again, I haven't tried this myself, but no harm in putting forward an idea right. :)

Noel, there is alot you could do about it. Heard about bribing apple? Kidnapping their CEO? Blackmail? All valid business strategies right. :P
