If I'm working on a track, say copying and pasting a section, very often when I paste, the pasted section turns up on an entirely different track. The reason is that you have to remember first to click somewhere in the track's info area to say "This is the track I'm working on and would  like the pasted bit to go to". Sonar defaults to the last track you clicked on the info area.  This has always bugged me about Sonar. Studio One's default is the track you're currently working on, which makes sense.
Is it just me?

No
and Studio One is the bomb, I just get it on crossgrade from Sonar Platinum couple days ago thanks to forum here and use it constantly and it is very awesome, solid, fast, and polished professional feel, love the scratch pads and the arrange, mastering, everything, and it just seem more natural to me a lot of the ways and things. Quickly becoming my number one best DAW

I think it's that way by design because if you control left click drag and drop it doesn't have to be in the "focus" track.

not saying that's the best way to do it, obviously if S1 does it differently then you're not alone in the way you would like to work, tho.

Why do those who left the product always feel the need to add a "neener-neener" to their post.

Me too. Or if you have a track that is split into multiple clips, add a fade to the end of one of the clips and realize that the fade got added to all the clips in the track because they were all selected.

My solution is to have one of the Control bar buttons set to "None"  (for "select none") and use it often when editing.

People who just get something new are often dazzled by the "shiny new object" elements. A couple months into it they discover the grass isn't always greener on the other side. This isn't a diss on Studio One; it's a fine program. But it doesn't do some things SONAR does which I need, so SONAR is what I use for creating music. OTOH Studio One does great for album assembly, so I use it for that.

I don't know why it's such a revelation to some people that different programs have different features, some of which may or may not be more important to an individual's specific needs.

The original poster's concern is also one of the reasons people leave and go to another DAW.
Simple editing with unpredictable results. This frustrates some users into thinking the DAW is buggy.

It depends on how you define "currently working on". SONAR differentiates between the current/focused track, and the track(s) in which clips are selected. Among other things this allows you to easily copy/cut parts from different tracks and paste them to the "current" one without having to constantly keep resetting the target track because track focus follows clip selection.

I don't use Studio One so I'm not sure how it handles this scenario, but I'm used to the SONAR model, and find it very flexible if not as instantly intuitive as having focus follow clip selection, which I gather is what Studio One does.

Same here, Dave...   I'm used to the existing method and find it consistent and flexible.   When pasting, just first select the track where the past should start, working downward.

I am very sorry, I'm no neener-neenering to anything, I just read the post before me which speaks of Studio One, and I comment, because because of the forum deals below I find crossgrade from Platinum to Studio One Professional, very good deal, so I buy it, and I like it very much, makes much more plain sense the ways it works, and things like the scratch pads and arrange view make working much better and easier for me, and all the other things and ways of the program, and it just feels very solid and polished and professional. Yes exciting with a new toy, but no not just excitement for new things, they are things that make using much easier to me and it makes a lot of sense, I wouldn't want to be without those features now. But you think what you like, really is no bother to me, I am not insecure in what I use, it is only software, I don't hug and kiss it before sleep, that may be you thing, but not me, it has no feelings, I find a better one I use it ?

Once again sorry, I only came to find a solution to Sonar Platinum since ipswich update, and I also find I'm not liking the every month update thing, I know I don't have to, and I find good deal to crossgrade to Studio One on these forums deal section, and boom. I have not left and 'neener neener' whatever infantile thing that is, I was still Sonar user from Sonar 7 Producer, finding a solution to after ipswich.

Sorry to anger your insecurity.
