  • Sonar X1 - unable to arrange tracks in Console View

Previously in other versions of Sonar Producer going way back to Sonar 2.2 XL (Yes I started there), I have always been able to arrange my tracks in the conosle view by clicking them and dragging them to the location or the order I wanted to see them.  After doing this, my change would show in the tracks pane with the new order of the tracks.  I work a lot in the console view while mixing, so I re-arrange tracks based on my mixing needs.

I tried to re-arrange my tracks in the console view of Sonar X1 and the tracks would not move.  Is there something I am missing, or is this a feature that has been discarded with this new release?

Peace

That's not currently working but should be added again in a future update. No idea when and this is not an official word. I just know you can't do it currently.

Thanks Scott.

I was wondering why Cakewalk would have disabled that feature.

Have a happy NEW YEAR!!!

FWIW if you re-arrange track orders in Track View, Console view will reflect the changes. It's more of a hassle than working with Console view directly, but that should hold you over until the update.

Craig Anderton,

Yes,  I have no problem at all with the tracks view, it is only the console view that was causing me the grief.

By the way Craig,  I love your articles written for Sound on Sound magazine for Sonar.  Very insightful material and they help me catch up on features I over looked or didn't bother to pay attention to.

Keep writing great material.

I can see that CW probably did it in line with the mantra of global consistency, but, personally, I like to keep the Track View in score order and arrange my Console tracks based on ensemble panning within sections - two very different arrangements. I can work one way or the other, but it really helps me to be able to see each view differently since, for me at least, Track View is about composing, and Console View is about mixing.

Thank you! My first X1 column is on Effects Chain, and the one after that is EQ tricks with ProChannel. Plenty to write about here...!

That's a really valid point, and it makes a lot of sense.

Did track/bus arrange via console ever get re-added?
