Yeah , this is the part that actually bothers me more than the thing being wrong. Now I ponder on what else I don't know is wrong.

You have discovered the "platinum record" button in Console View, right? That's why it's called the Platinum version.

I found it and it isn't turning blue either!

First one has to read the manual. With Sonar 2015 you also need to read the Ezine to keep up to date. When things don't seem to match the manual or the Ezine its time to come here and ask.

Well I may have solved this blue button dilemma. I did some digging in the manual and it says that effects that are in focus using ACT are highlighted blue when in focus. That is the only time I could find that mentions the color being blue, so maybe the ones that are seeing the blue are using a control surface and those like me who do not will not see blue.

That maybe the situation Teego. I do have the Mackie Control and an 88 key keyboard.

Yeah, the graytones have been a problem here as well. I am constantly having to click power buttons in the rack to see if they get lighter or darker to make sure they are indeed on or off. Not a great situation.

I've never seen the blue thing which is weird because... well I should have at this point. Is that new in Ipswich?

I would MUCH rather have the blue be the "On" indicator and gray as "Off"... more like how it used to be in the FX Bin which was much easier to see what was active.

I like the rack... but the grayscale stuff needs to be fixed. I'd also like an option to disable the vertical expansion (in favor of scrolling like the old Bin had) for when I don't want the rack taking up as much vertical space (eg: when I'm not actually futzing around with FX).

I'm also in favor of Beepster's remedy! I don't really need an indicator for when I have an fx window open, since I can see that fx window(s). :) However, I can understanding having indicators for fx that are assigned to a controller AND for those with assigned automation (the latter would be much more useful to my work flow). I think I smell a feature request.

The mystery deepens...there's no control surface connected to this computer, and I'm clearly see the four states.

My active plug-ins turn a very pale blue when I hover the mouse over them:

Is that what's supposed to happen?

Edit to add, that's when the plug-in is both active and open:

I'm seeing exactly the same as you Steve, whether the plugin gui is open or not, and no control surface connected.

Just 2 shades of grey (on/off) but a faint blue with mouse hover
