I've accidentally selected/moved crud in the Parent Track thinking I was in the lane.
However a current solution that helps me differentiate (and might work for you Keni) is just make the parent track as small as it can be when working in lanes. It's an extra step and it is annoying when you need to get at track controls (because you have to drag the parent track out again) but it avoids the eye distraction of the parent track.
Now that I think about it maybe that is why they forced the Take Lanes to all expand vertically together instead of being adjustable one at a time (this does seem to be a visual cue I'm working in a lane instead of a track because they'll never be the exact height aside from the odd coincidental resizing... but I'm not sure if the Baker's were THAT clever and if so it's weird way to go about it).
To me I think a better option than hiding the parent track clips is if we could have different, customizable colors/shades for the Parent Track and Take Lanes.
So the user says, for example, Parent Track = Black Backround/White Clips... Take Lanes = White Background/Black Clips.
That of course is an awful and extreme color scheme but the colors aren't the point. Just seeing a different color scheme running across your screen to identify a parent track would, IMO, solve the issue. Having to hide the active clips in the Parent track would actually mess me up far more for other reasons.
Cheers.
