Two monitors - essential!!
One on top of the other: spread the screen over the two: tracks at the top, MD (console and PRV) on the bottom

Display properties : Extended.
Left : Windows Main Desktop | Right : Sonar Initial Window
Undock Console and PRV, moved to Left
Track View, Transport in the Sonar main window on the Right.

This is how I use.

27" monitor above and a 34" below. I used to run track view on one and console on another, but I find it easier to just use scenes for this. So Sonar is on the big bottom monitor. Up top I have the Waves Durrough that is on my two buss always displayed, along with a Durrough on any track I am working on at the moment. I also use the upper monitor for open plugin windows.

Three monitors!   Top left: main.  Bottom left: PRVs, many of them.  Right, 'portrait' mode so it is tall and thin: Event list, pdfs or help files as needed.   Console, when needed, bottom left with the PRVs minimized.   Plugins, VST instruments, top left floating on top of the main window.

I can't stand being away from my main recording machine. That's the only one with dual monitors.

I have mine setup on monitor mounts that can extend away from the desk so i can move around a little.

I run 2 x 23" but I found having them side-by-side is too wide which means either obscuring my audio monitoring OR pushing them so far away that I have to lean forward and squint :O)

So I brought my Left Monitor forward and down to where a touch screen PC would be, at about the same angle (custom stand) and the Right hand monitor is higher up to the rear. The two monitors and my controller/desk make a triangle.

It's the most comfortable I have ever been in my own studio. Front monitor is Track view, piano roll etc, back monitor is Console, meters, video playback etc.

Works great for my needs. You have to find what works for yours, and don't fall in to a rut with it either.

Have fun!

Screensets could help you to customize even more the TV / CV.... Could use one displaying the console's buses, another for tracks... Lock or unlock to taste.

Never used screen sets much , or quick keys. so now I am getting into these big time , also found console view can be restricted only to show audio tracks and non muted , this is a whole new world for me , great , using Key D , I and C.
I have moved the windows font size back down to normal now , jury still out on this one. I have varifocal lenses so large text can be better for me , also don't think stacking monitor above will not help me .

Thanks for all your advice

I ran with 3 monitors for a while, but reclaimed space and dropped back to 2, and often I will run on just 1, depending on what I am doing.

When running with dual monitors, I normally have the console opened on one, and track pane opened on the other.  If opened windows get in the way I can drag them over to the other monitor, or just collapse things like the Inspector or Browser panes.

It sure does look nice to see Sonar stretching across a couple of screens - and it gives me lots of options for what is opened on which screen, which speeds things up as well as just keeping clutter to a minimum.
