  • VS700, how low does the sample size go?

Hi, I have the VS700 system, and I would like to try tracking with couple plugins.
In the driver settings, I can change the sample size from the default 512 down to 128, which is the 3rd lowest.  The 2nd lowest is 96...even though you would expect it to be 64.  The first lowest is also 96.  The sample rate is 96k, so that's about 7ms.  I'm hoping to get down to 64 or lower.

Anyone able to do that with the VS700 Rack interface?

thanks,
Dave

When running at higher sample-rates, many audio interfaces (including the Roland units) double the minimum ASIO buffer size.

The short answer, you won't be able to go below a 96-sample ASIO buffer size when running at 96k.

RME USB units are known for low round-trip latency... and rock-solid drivers.
The Fireface UFX's smallest ASIO buffer size (when running at 96k) is also 96-samples.
Note that the UFX yields ~4ms total round-trip latency at this setting.

Hi Jim, thanks for the reply. I guess I'll be ok to stick with this for now until I can upgrade the interface sometime in the future.

cheers,
Dave
